March Maddness

March came in like a lion and out like a lamb for sure!
Not in the context of weather but in a whole new way.

Flowers and sunshine made us long for Spring. The groundhog did not see his shadow so we had hopes for early Spring!

Seminary was on break the first two weeks! It was a good time to rest our minds a little!

The Fort Wayne Science Center held a doctors day where the kids (and adults) could learn so much about the human body!

The kids started by sitting in the pilots seat of the medical helicopter on the front lawn! They loved it!

Shark on the face!
The Doctor day wore the kids out so much they both fell asleep on the way home! Thanks Abby for lending your shoulder!

Art Time! Rory made a cute drawing for me.

I got out my watercolors and a tutorial to attempt some art.
Here is the result of my first attempt.

Rory had one of her school art pieces selected to be on display at an art exhibit at the Lutheran high school! Here is her art work.

Rory celebrated her 6th Birthday March 14! She got a camera from her Nana and Papa! She took it to the hardware store with us and took so many pictures! We then went to her favorite restaurant for dinner! Panera Bread where she ate her favorite meal of broccoli cheddar soup with the baguette!

The "lion" that came in with March was the Corona virus threat. First it was distant, then in the U.S. and on March 6th the first case in Indianapolis, Indiana and then the first death March 16. Thursday March 19 our area had the first confirmed cases.

This photo of a lion was taken by us at the end of our Peace Corps Service to Malawi Africa in 2010. If you want to see more about our 3 years in Malawi check out our other blog http://lettersfrommalawi.blogspot.com/

The Seminary announced they would start the Spring Quarter online with classes either live or recorded classes.

The school Rory attends and I work at followed the Governor's actions of going to online learning starting March 16.  The teachers prepared packets for students, we dispersed computers (below the picture is the handing out of the packets and computers), we had meetings. Then the Governor enacted the 'stay-at-home' order on March 25.

Needless to say our lives changed.
